Estelle Espe-Chase, Principal, Landscape Designer
Estelle holds a Master’s Certificate from The Boston Architectural College and The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. She founded the company in 2008 after working for a decade as a landscape designer in the industry. Passionate, personable and imaginative, Estelle brings a keen intuitive ability to grasp the possibilities for designing a sensible landscape scheme that is unique to each site. Through very detailed drawings and concept photos, she has the ability to accurately communicate the possibilities for a transformative landscape. Her horticultural knowledge is reinforced by using her own extensive gardens as trials for new plant cultivars. Estelle is also very involved in the installation process. She is ‘boots on the ground’ during the construction of the project and will hand select all woody and perennial plant material and stone material for each project.
Bradford Chase, Construction, Masonry and Carpentry
Brad Chase worked in the custom home building industry for over forty years. For thirteen years he held the position of Construction Supervisor for Kenneth Vona Construction (now KVC Builders, Kenneth Vona and Son), one of the region’s most prestigious custom home builders. He brings a vast knowledge of site engineering, carpentry, masonry installation, drainage solutions, permitting and anything that pertains to the integration of the building and the landscape to the Garden Mates team. His strong carpentry skills translate into his understanding of the integration of home and garden structures. Brad is a certified stone installer; OSHA certified and holds a MA hydraulics license. Married to Estelle, Brad enjoys sharing his ideas and technical advice during the design process.
