The Judge’s House

In 1894 the Landscape Architecture firm of Olmsted, Olmsted and Eliot was hired to landscape this historic property in Newton, MA for MA Supreme Court Justice Robert A. Bishop. In 2017 Garden Mates completed the landscape renovation for this stately home! Voluptuously curved plant beds, large specimen trees and oversized garden ornamentation are in keeping with the scale of the house and the mature trees surrounding the yard. In the back, a large ledge outcrop becomes the focal point of a lush perennial garden. Bird feeders, a bat house and a family vegetable garden are all part of the dynamic elements of this living landscape that flow together seamlessly. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the current owners of this remarkable, historic property.
